ERA has sourced highly experienced and knowledgeable staff in the areas of sports science, education and training to ensure that you receive the most up to date information and practical applications.
The ERA education and sports science teams comprise of a number of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who are degree qualified with first-hand experience in specialised education and testing services. Our sporting backgrounds range from recreational to elite level competition in the sports of netball, swimming, tennis, rowing and running.
Dr. Melissa Arkinstall is the leader of our sports science team that delivers specialised services in sports education, testing and coaching. Melissa completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) at RMIT University in Melbourne and has a PhD, specialising in Exercise Physiology. Melissa's research has been presented at both a national and international level with numerous papers published in international journals of high regard. Melissa is a key author of the VCE PE text book published by Macmillan Education Australia. Her expertise includes energy systems, LIP, oxygen deficit and EPOC as well as mechanisms of fatigue and recovery. Melissa is a member of the RMIT Human Movement Program Advisory Committee and the National Sports Science Accreditation Committee (NSSAC).
Lizzy has completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) at RMIT University in Melbourne. Lizzy is the Manager of ERA professional development and fitness courses, including Certificate III & IV in fitness. Lizzy has 4 years of experience as a personal trainer and is a leading presenter in the areas of sports biomechanics, sports nutrition and training. Lizzy has competed at a national level in the sport of swimming and is currently training for the half ironman triathlon event.
Tori completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at RMIT University in Melbourne. Tori is the Manager of our Schools Program and is a leading presenter in the areas of energy systems, fatigue and recovery as well as program design and training. Tori has an extensive background in strength and conditioning and is an accredited trainer in the delivery of Visual Coaching Pro courses.
Jackie has recently joined the ERA team as our office and bookings manager. Jackie has extensive administration experience in the sports industry and brings to ERA specialised communication and organisation skills. We are excited to welcome Jackie to the ERA team in 2011.
Daniel originates from Western Australia and is our successful graduate in 2011. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Exercise and Health Science from the University of Western Australia. He continued to complete his honours degree in Exercise Physiology where he investigated the effect of caffeine on reactive agility in an athletic population and gained Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) accreditation as an Exercise Scientist. Dan posseses a keen interest and experience in river rowing, Australian rules football, field hockey, long distance running and multidisciplinary endurance events.
Congratulations to our new student trainees for 2011. Each year, ERA selects a group of students to assist with sports science practices and education programs throughout the year. Well done to the following students, selected from over 60 applicants this year.
